The AviBit Flight Strip
Editor is part of the COTS delivery by which the following properties
of the system and Flight Strips can be defined:
-
Complete appearance of the strip bays like: colors, size,
number of bays, fonts, background, etc.
-
Size of strips and strip background
-
Content of strip, meaning which information of a flight plan
is shown on which position of the strip. For each of these fields
the display parameters (color, fonts, background) can be separately
defined.
-
Reaction of the system when the user clicks on a field of the
flight strip (e.g. popup menus)
-
Behavior of the "Action Button"
The system is capable of handling different kinds of strips like:
Arrival / Departure / Local / Overflights / IFR / VFR / Vehicle
/ Tow truck / Info Strip. The parameters mentioned above can be
separately defined for each kind of strip.
The Flight Strip Editor is the perfect tool which puts the customer
into the position to define the strips exactly in the way he wants
them without any software change. This reduces the time for familiarization
and training significantly.
"So what does the customer have to do if he would like to
change the strip appearance?". That is pretty easy: As already
mentioned, the Flight Strip Editor is part of the COTS delivery
of AviBit. At the start of the project AviBit engineers perform
the first strip configuration according the layout of the previous
paper strips and / or according to the wishes of the controllers.
Then the customer can further adapt the strip layout and / or appearance
without any software change. If required, AviBit can perform later
changes in the layout within the frame of a maintenance / service
contract.
The picture on the right hand side shows a screen shot of the DIFLIS
Strip Editor. This software can be run on any laptop or office PC.
The resulting configuration file is copied to the DIFILS Server
and the changes become operational at a pre-defined date / time.
