AviBit - a supplier for tower automation tools - has released the
most recent version of its Digital Flight Strip System. The new
software has successfully passed the acceptance tests for its operation
at Vienna Airport where it is fully certified and in operational
use since 2005.
Wolfgang Eder, product manager at AviBit, explained that the new
version of the system now supports enhanced tower automation functionality
like:

Optional coupling between Digital Flight Strips and A-SMGCS.
Selected labels on the A-SMGCS automatically highlight the respective
flight strip

Improved Safety Nets which warn the controller in case if
irregular situations

Higher flexibility in user-definable strip layout and strip
workflow
-
More flexible interfaces to flight plan information
-
And many more
The Digital Flight Strip System installed at Vienna Tower has become
an important tool which helps controller to cope with the steadily
increasing traffic. With the new features which have been implemented
recently controller's workload could be decreased while maintaining
the high level of safety.
