AviBit to provide A-SMGCS HMI to NAV Portugal for Lisbon Portela Airport

September 22, 2008:

NAV Portugal - the Air Navigation Service Provider of Portugal - has awarded a contract to AviBit to extend the existing A-SMGCS by its HMI. Apart from the HMI the project will also include an SMR Raw Video Conversion function which receives SMR Raw Video from the existing SMR and provides it in digital format via network to the NAV Portugal System for further processing.

The AviBit HMI - a proven HMI for A-SMGCS Display

The AviBit HMI has been developed in a very close cooperation with Air Traffic Controllers from Vienna Airport. The system is highly accepted by the controllers and is the optimum solution to cope with the requirements from NAV Portugal. The AviBit HMI will run in parallel with the NAV in-house developed HMI and both of them are served by the AviBit tracker and data fusion.

The SMR Raw Video Conversion Function which will also be provided by AviBit is based on a custom AviBit hardware which reads the SMR Raw video directly from the SMR in digital or analog format and allows to send it via an industry standard USB 2.0 interface to a processing server which in turn sends the raw video data over a standard Ethernet LAN to NAV Portugal systems.

The time-frame for the delivery of the system is quite short. Installation and acceptance are planned for December 2008.
