AviBit passes SAT for the A-SMGCS Data Fusion at Lisbon Portela Airport

Graz, Austria - April 25, 2008:

AviBit sucessfully passes the Site Acceptance Test for the A-SMGCS Data Fusion System at Lisbon Portely Airport including tracking, data-fusion, recording & replay, safety logic, and monitoring and control.

AviBit performs the project in time and in budget

ASTOS - the AviBit A-SMGCS COTS product - was the heart of the AviBit delivery. Its proven architecture and open interfaces enabled AviBit to provide the delivery to NAV Portugal in time and in budget to the full satisfaction of the customer. The system provided by AviBit includes all A-SMGCS Level 2 functionality with open interfaces enabling NAV Portugal to use their own, in-house developed HMI.

Because of the complex runway layout at Lisbon Airport, including crossing runways, NAV Portugal puts a high emphasis on the safety logic built into the AviBit system.

Another major issue for this project was the HMI. While the AviBit HMI is used for maintenance and replay purposes, NAV uses its in-house operational display for the controller working positions. All interfaces between the NAV HMI and the AviBit data fusion are based on ASTERIX and XML formats.
